South Bend, Ind. (March 6, 2015) — Bipin Doshi, president of Schafer Industries (http://www.schafergear.com), has announced the appointment of Paresh Shah as operations manager of the company’s Gear Unit, Schafer Gear Works, in South Bend.

Schafer Gear Works has plants in South Bend as well as in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Rockford, Illinois. The company’s 108,000-square-foot South Bend location produces high-volume gears for a variety of industrial applications.

Shah came to Schafer Gear Works in 1993 as a gear engineer. In 1995 he was promoted to engineering manager where he managed the engineering group in South Bend and also served as a liaison between both domestic and overseas vendors.

Prior to joining Schafer Gear Works, Shah was senior process engineer for International Gear Corporation in Cleveland, Ohio.

Shah has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Birla Vishwakarma Mahavidyalaya in Gujarat India and a master’s in mechanical engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology.

Schafer Industries also includes a Driveline Unit that operates two production facilities in Ohio. The 120,000-square-foot assembly plant in Fredericktown, Ohio produces axles for leisure, all-terrain and utility vehicles; transmissions and transaxles for ATVs; and related off-highway brake components and assemblies. The 30,000 square-foot facility in Blacklick, Ohio produces aluminum gear housings, ductile iron differential cases and ductile iron brake components.

Established in 1934, Schafer Industries has been under its present ownership since 1988. The company is a diversified supplier to a variety of markets in North America including leisure vehicles, material handling, mining, power transmission, construction, locomotive, aircraft, medical, as well as automotive and heavy-duty truck markets.
